Dubai: Dubai Municipality has launched a new initiative to facilitate interaction between senior officials of the civic body with the general public over the telephone.
Under the initiative, called "Managers on Air" anyone with a query or complaint about civic services can dial toll free 800 4 999 and talk to senior officials on specific days.
Khalid Abdul Rahim, Director of Customer Relations Department at Dubai Municipality, said the first such session would be held on August 12, with Ahmad Abdul Karim, Director of Public Parks and Horticulture Department, and senior officials from the department attending to telephone calls from the public.
On August 27, the Director of Food Control Department, Khalid Mohammad Shareef and senior officials from the department will attend to calls.
Members of the public and the trading community can speak to them on 800 4 999 from 10am to 12pm.
"We will facilitate an easy and smooth interaction between the public and the officials by using an advanced calls management system with a group of experienced and friendly staff from the Corporate Marketing and Relations Department, Customer Relations Department, Administrative Services Section and the hosting department in each session," Abdul Rahim said.
He added that this initiative is aimed at bringing Dubai Municipality closer to the public and eliciting their valuable comments and feedback on civic services and projects.
"This initiative has been discussed in detail at a recent meeting of the municipality's senior management who offered all their support for the move as this can go a long way in accomplishing a higher level of customer satisfaction," Abdul Rahim said.
The service would be offered on a rotation basis to the public from those departments that have direct relations with external customers such as the Public Parks and Horticulture Department, Food Control Department, Public Health Services Department, Waste Management Department and Environment Department.
Taken seriously
He added that the comments, suggestions and grievances raised by members of the public would be taken seriously and all efforts would be made by Dubai Municipality to correct the flaws and simplify procedures of each and every service offered by various departments.
