Dubai: Dubai Executive Council reviewed the plan to develop the cultural sector and enrich the intellectual and cultural scene in the emirate.
The plan was reviewed at the Council's meeting on Monday, chaired by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince.
The plan includes number of cultural and artistic projects and initiatives to be announced soon in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to set up the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, which has the mandate to promote the cultural, artistic and creative movement in the UAE.
The Council endorsed the plan. It also reviewed the strategy of the authority, which aims to achieve Dubai's vision to become an international cultural and heritage destination through regulating and developing the cultural sector and its infrastructure.
Shaikh Hamdan stressed the importance of enhancing the national identity, as well as preserving and protecting the nation's heritage. He underlined that the authority is directly responsible for organising the cultural sector by launching cultural initiatives, introducing educational programmes, motivating talented people and attracting international activities.
