Fujairah: A health clinic, which stood idle for three years after its completion, has finally opened to the general public.
The clinic in Qurrayah, a village between Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, was built more than three years ago to cater to the healthcare needs of local residents who were usually forced to travel to Fujairah nearly ten kilometers away.
Frustration grew in the community, however, as the centre lay unused and officials failed to give adequate explanation for the delay in making it operational.
Early this year, however, officials from Fujairah’s Medical Zone promised efforts were under way to staff the centre but didn’t give an exact date for the inauguration.
On Monday the clinic opened its doors to the general public for the first time and received eight cases, officials say.
