Abu Dhabi: The 7th Round of the Emirates Film Competition will kick off on Wednesday evening at the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.

Mohammad Khalaf Al Mazrouei, General Director of the ADACH said that this year's film festival is the culmination of the past seven years.
This year's festival promises more awards, prizes, lectures as well as segments.
The usual prizes of the emirates short film competition have doubled this year and there has been some changes made to its seventh session and current one.
The competition now includes not only UAE films, but also world culture and UAE heritage, provided that part of the shared film is produced in the UAE.
Moreover, the value of the awardshas been increased to AED 1,025,000 instead of AED 220,000.
The production award has doubled and an "Arabian Gulf film makers" category added as well as three awards for a UAE long film scenario writing.
Deadline for receiving participations for this competition was February 1, 2008, whereas deadline for receiving participations in the other categories of the Award was January 15, 2005.
In addition, five scholarships will be offered to the winners of the previous competitions to study at Abu Dhabi Film Academy. The winners will also attend the Cannes International Film Festival.
Al Mazrouei noted that the number of participating countries for this year's competition has also increased with around 30 different Arab and Foreign countries taking part.
