Abu Dhabi: The jury committee for the Documentary Film Competition titled "Document your talent, get inspired by your homeland" began evaluating more than 100 entries from around the world on Friday.
The competition was organised by Anasy and Sama Dubai TV.
Zikra Walli, competition manager, said the competition aims to support and encourage young people and professionals to create documentary films.
The competition has two categories, "Shaikh Zayed Film" and "Free Choice".
Documentaries that have been entered feature subjects ranging from nature and history to society and politics.
The total prize money is Dh1,050,000, the grand prize being Dh500,000.
The jury consists of an international panel, including Mouna Abu Sulaiman, goodwill ambassador, public speaker and media personality, Dr Khalid Choukat, critic, producer, writer and director of the Arab Film Festival in Rotterdam, and Riz Khan, journalist based in Washington and Dubai.
