Ras Al Khaimah: The Criminal Court sentenced yesterday an Egyptian to four years in jail for possessing and using hashish.

A senior court official said the man, A.A.J., was arrested at a resort and police found some hashish from his pocket.

The police had received a tip-off that the suspect owned hashish and tracked down the suspect.

During interrogations, the suspect claimed that he was about to give the hashish to his friend as a gift and that he possessed it only for this purpose.

But when the suspect tested positive for drugs later, he confessed that the hashish was for personal use only. The suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution where he confessed to have been a drug user. The court sentenced him for four years in jail, followed by deportation.

Court: False rape report

The Criminal Court jailed, fined and ordered the deportation of an Asian woman on charges of filing a false rape report and for being involved in prostitution.

The court official said the suspect, D.S., had filed a report with the police claiming that an Arab had raped her.

But the police found out that the woman's compatriot boyfriend accompanied her to another emirate and got her involved in prostitution.
