Dubai: The Red Bull drink sold at local markets is free of alcohol, a senior police official said.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Mattar Al Muhairi, Acting Director of Dubai Police's Forensic Sciences and Crime Science Department, said the announcement came as a response to information circulating through websites regarding the drink.
He said Dubai Police's General Headquarters assures the public that the circulated information dates back to a case that took place in 2002 towards a specific person. Police had seized cans of the drink (among other things) collected from the scene. At that time, it was proven that the Red Bull collected from the scene contained a percentage of alcohol.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Muhairi said the final results ensure that the product is free of any alcoholic substances. He said the result came after examining random samples collected from various outlets in the local market.
"Dubai Police assures the public of its keenness to safeguard public interest and reveal the facts to the public," he said. Lieutenant Colonel Al Muhairi called on the public to be careful about the authenticity in such issues and not to get carried away by what is published in websites or blogs.
