Dubai: A man who used to open doors of "rooms of pleasure" to clients at a Naif brothel has been given a one-year jail term. The Dubai Court of First Instance incriminated the 24-year-old Bangladeshi M.S., of associating with a 34-year-old Indian receptionist, S.T., who was sentenced to two years in jail for running a brothel.
The receptionist was found guilty of running the hotel's first two floors as a brothel with 14 Uzbek sex workers, each of whom will spend six months in prison.
The Uzbek women, aged between 18 and 39, earlier denied working in the sex industry before the court. M.S. and S.T. also denied the charges.
The Public Prosecution charged the women with working as prostitutes. Ten were also charged with staying in the country illegally.
A police captain testified: "We caught M.S. who had keys to all the rooms which were used for prostitution. A curtain separated every two beds in each room."
A first sergeant stated: "The girls were scared and half-naked after the raid. They used to charge Dh50 to Dh70 per customer."
