Dubai: The jurisdiction of a murder case of a Syrian businessman by an Emirati and his expatriate partner who reportedly buried their victim on Omani soil near Hatta, is yet to be decided, sources close to the investigation said.

Deal worth millions

The two accused, an Emirati in his 70s and his Moroccan partner, told police they had killed Tony Jabour after a dispute over a car deal worth millions of dirhams.

Relatives of the 48-year-old Jabour, from Safita, a small town located near Homs in central Syria, said he went missing on March 10. Six days later his body was found buried near Hatta.

Sources said investigations revealed that the accused cheated the victim and stole his money.

The source said the accused told police that they lured the victim into their car to Oman were they killed him, buried his body and burned his passport.

The victim's funeral will be held here in Dubai on Thursday. He would have celebrated his 48th birthday on Wednesday.
