Dubai: One of the most notorious narcotics dealers, who ran away from a prison of a Gulf country and entered the UAE through a sea route to continue his criminal activities here, has been arrested.

Dubai Police's Narcotics Combating Department at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) monitored the suspect, who has been sentenced to death in a Gulf country for trafficking and dealing with large amounts of narcotics.

A police official said CID teams followed the drug dealer and his partners and monitored his movements after he entered the country.

The suspect entered the country under a forged name.

After investigations and checking all information, it turned out that the suspect is in the wanted list of a Gulf country and had run away from the prison, where he was convicted and sentenced to death.

The official said after collecting information, the police carried out legal procedures and arrested him.

During interrogations with the suspect, he confessed to trafficking narcotics and running away from prison with six inmates after he was sentenced to death.

Extradition

The police coordinated with security authorities in the concerned Gulf country after coordination with the Interior Ministry to extradite the suspect following legal procedures.

The police official said Dubai Police will stand in the face of anyone who tries to mess around with the country's security.

He said the police is also committed to implementing the international laws and dual agreements with sister countries.
