Fujairah: The Fujairah Appeal Court upheld a fine of Dh200,000 against a Fujairah-based decorations company for illegally employing four Chinese labourers.
The company was appealing against a previous ruling by the Court of First Instance, which also saw the four men sentenced to one month in jail, and a fine of Dh100 each, to be followed by deportation.
The four men were apprehended during a surprise labour inspection after they failed to produce proper employment documents.
Further investigations revealed that the men stayed on in the country after their visit visas had expired.
The four men along with the company were found guilty of breaching labour and immigration laws after which the company chose to appeal the court’s ruling.
