Dubai: A man has landed in prison after a court found him guilty of misusing telecommunication services and harassing a female supervisor and breaching her privacy.

The 29-year-old Emirati employee denied misusing telecommunication services by verbally harassing his 25-year-old compatriot on her mobile phone and claimed that they had a four-month relationship before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The court sentenced him on Monday to three months in jail.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused, H.K., with sending abusive text messages in which he threatened to malign her reputation, breach her privacy and expose her secrets. He was also charged with harassing her by misusing Etisalat services.

"I didn't harass her ... she was the one who phoned me since we had a four-month relationship," H.K. told the court earlier.

He claimed that she called him repeatedly. The woman testified to the public prosecution that she did not know the suspect. "He harassed me by calling my new number which I had issued to avoid his harassment on the first number ... He once came to my workplace and called me by my name. Later he phoned and said he had taken pictures of me while walking into my office and threatened to compose naked pictures of me on the computer using photos of naked women he had taken earlier," she stated.

The victim claimed: "When I asked him how he discovered my new number, he said his friend helped him get the number. He also warned that he had the capability to get all private details concerning my life ... He threatened to publish pictures of my wedding."
