Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police jointly launched a road safety campaign on Wednesday.
Phase I of the drive will continue for two weeks and will highlight various traffic violations and the traffic points (black points) slapped for the offence.
Phase II of the campaign will continue for six months and will focus on road manners, safety and measures to curb violations.
As per the table of traffic offences in the country, there are 147 listed offences and 73 among them carry traffic points, which can be slapped on the spot or in absentia, said Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Acting Chief of Dubai Police.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, said the campaign is aimed at educating motorists and reduce accidents.
