Sharjah: A man who was conducting an illicit affair with a housemaid in her employer's apartment in Sharjah jumped to his death from the fifth-floor window after being caught by the employer, police have said.
Police told Gulf News that an Indian man was with the Sri Lankan housemaid and jumped from the window when the employer returned home.
The housemaid used to let her boyfriend into the house while her employer and the family was not at home, said police.
The incident happened on Saturday night in a building in Al Majaz area.
The Palestinian male employer returned home from work earlier than usual and the boyfriend jumped from the window in fear.
Police said the housemaid was arrested and will face charges of adultery.
Police added that the housemaid is not on the sponsorship of her employer, who will now face legal action against him for employing a person not under his sponsorship.

Police said the employer had tried to open the door of his apartment but found that it was locked from the inside.
He told police that the housemaid took some time to open the door so her boyfriend would have time to jump from the window to escape, but as a result the man died on spot.
In a separate incident, a 43-year-old Indian man committed suicide in the Al Sharqia area in Sharjah, police said.
The operation room at the police station received a report about a worker who was found having hanged himself with a rope behind a petrol station.
Police said the man left a note for police that he killed himself due to financial problems.
The case was transferred to the public prosecutor for further investigation while the body was transferred to tje forensic lab.
Police said the incident occurred on Saturday night.
