Dubai: A gang of seven bootleggers denied killing a member who apparently cheated on them by selling some of the illicit liquor for his pocket expenses.
The victim, identified as M.S., used to sell some of the illicit liquor without the knowledge of the rest of the gang, the court heard.
The gang used to stow away the alcohol in a deserted area in the Arabian Ranches area by burying it in the sand but noticed that the stocks kept thinning. They set up a trap and caught M.S. red-handed. The gang leader took out his belt and tied it around M.S.'s neck while the other gang members held him down.
The suspects then strangled M.S. and buried his body in the desert and fled the scene.
The Dubai Public Prosecution charged the seven men with premeditated murder, possession of alcohol for trading and working for other than the sponsor.
