Abu Dhabi: Tired and sleepy motorists are causing more and more accidents in Abu Dhabi. Five people were killed and 21 others were injured in 15 traffic accidents, which authorities attribute to sleepy and exhausted motorists.
The accidents occurred between January 1 and October 12, said Lieutenant Colonel Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, Director of the Traffic and Patrolling Department, Abu Dhabi.
Motorists should not drive when exhausted as they lose concentration, Al Shamsi said and warned motorists, especially long-distance motorists who drive late in the night, to be cautious.
Al Shamsi also urged motorists, who suffer from chronic diseases, not to drive after taking medicines that induce sleep or dizziness.
