Dubai: A good Samaritan has provided financial help to pay for all living and educational expenses of a family of six, after reading about their desperate conditions in this newspaper.

It was reported on January 8 that an Asian family were forced to vacate their home in Al Quoz after living without electricity for three weeks.

The family's breadwinner, Zarnosh Khan, said he considered sending his family back to Pakistan if he was unable to find cheaper accommodation in Ajman.

Khan told Gulf News on Friday that he was surprised when the businessman, who wished to remain anonymous, offered to provide him with financial aid after reading the article.

The businessman offered to pay for his children's education, medical expenses and his rent.

"He told me not to regard him as a stranger but to consider him as my lost brother. Before I had three, but now I have four brothers and am very grateful about that."

Khan has four children enrolled in schools, and has to pay extra attention to his daughter who is visually impaired and attends the Special Needs Family Training School in Karama.

"He is part of my family now and has told me not to feel shy about asking for help. He is taking responsibility for me and instructed me to call him anytime, whether it is day or night," said Khan, adding that the businessman regularly calls to check if he needs anything.

"I initially rented out one studio in a shared villa for Dh3,000, but the man insisted that I rent out a second room because there was not enough space and that he will pay for all the expenses," he said.

The accommodation in which the family now resides is half a kilometre from their former home.

"Now I will stay here in Dubai and do not have to send my family back to Pakistan. That option was a last resort because I knew that if I went back, I would not be able to make enough money to support my family. I am grateful that my family and I can continue our lives here," said Khan.
