Abu Dhabi: More than 70,000 people have donated their "faces" for a $1 million charity (Dh3.67m) project to improve the housing conditions of underprivileged residents in the northern emirates.

If you upload your picture on a website dedicated by Souroh, an Abu Dhabi-based real estate company, it will give $1 to the UAE Red Crescent programme. The company on Sunday urged people to take the last chance to "donate" pictures of themselves on www.sorouhfaces.com.

The charity project under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, has already succeeded in creating the largest poster in the world, said a statement issued by the company on Sunday.

More than 700,000 photos have been submitted through the website. Now the company is calling for one last push to reach the target of one million faces.

"We urge every person who shares our commitment to the needs of the underprivileged to visit the website and help us reach our target of a $1 million donation", said Masood Al Awar, chief sales and marketing officer of Sorouh.

Sorouh will unveil the results of the campaign on April 30. The poster, which will replace the current world record-holding poster on the final approach into Dubai airport, will have one million faces making up a new message from Sorouh.
