Dubai: Police honoured a taxi driver who returned a bag that contained 130,000 Euros (around Dh650,000), he found in his taxi. Brigadier Abdul Jalil Mahdi, Deputy Director of Dubai Police's Preventative Security Department, honored Salamuddin Sudajer, a Pakistani who works for National Taxi, for returning the bag of money to Al Rashidiyah Police Station.
The bag belonged to a Tunisian national Latif Montaser, who forgot his bag in the taxi, which he took from Dubai International Airport.
Sudajer returned the bag to police without opening it or checking its contents. The duty officer at the police station checked the bag and identified the owner, who came to the station to retrieve the bag after confirming his identity.
Brigadier Mahdi praised the big role played by society members in maintaining security.
He honoured the taxi driver with a certificate and a token of appreciation.
