Dubai: Police said speeding was the common factor in two separate accidents that occurred on Friday afternoon in which 24 people were injured.

Lieutenant Colonel Saif Al Mazroui, Acting Deputy Director of Dubai Police Traffic Department, said 23 people sustained injuries when their bus overturned on Emirates Road.

Khalifa Bin Darai, Executive Manager of Dubai Ambulance Services Centre, said there were no deaths in the accident, but two people were seriously injured. The workers in the bus were on their way to work. He said the accident report came at 12:44pm and nine ambulances were dispatched to the scene including Dubai Police's Air Wing.

Bin Darai said one of the seriously injured victims was airlifted to Rashid Hospital while 17 people with minor injuries were taken to Al Baraha Hospital.

Police said they are investigating the reasons behind the accident.

An American expatriate also sustained injuries in another accident on Al Khail Road when his car tyre burst.
