Sharjah: Three people died and 17 others were injured in three accidents on Saturday afternoon on the Sharjah highway.
Mohammad Eid Al Madhlum, Director of the operations room at Sharjah Police, said the first accident happened at about 4.30pm on the Maleha-Kalba Road after two trucks collided.
The truck drivers stopped in the middle of the road to inspect the damage, but did not see a third truck coming from Sharjah, which hit one of the trucks, instantly causing a fire. Its Syrian truck driver, identified as M.S., 27, was burnt to death.
A UAE national couple was killed in the second accident on Al Dhaid Road at Interchange 7 in Al Zubair area at about 6.20pm.
The couple overtook a motorist and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. As the truck stopped in the middle of the road, a bus carrying 20 workers collided with it. Several people were injured.
The third accident happened at Interchange 7 on Zubair Road at about 7.30pm when a car driven by a UAE national collided with a bus.
