Sana'a: A French man was put on trial on charges of smuggling antiques from Yemen to France.

Abdul Azeez Al Jarash, a judge at the east Sana'a court, on Monday barred reporters and photographers from the first session.

"You cannot attend the sessions, you cannot take photos, you can only attend when the verdict is pronounced," the judge told reporters. "I do not want to defame the accused through media, he is innocent until proven guilty," the judge said.

The prosecutor accused the French man of attempting to smuggle antiques, which include a bronze statute costing 20 million Yemeni riyals (about $100,000).
