Sana'a: Seventeen men from the Yemeni ruling party won governors' posts in the first elections for governors held on Saturday.
It was Yemen's first election of provincial governors.
A mayor for the capital Sana'a and governors of the country's 20 other provinces are to be elected by members of municipal boards.
Security was tight, with more than 300 Yemeni and foreign monitors supervising the elections.
