Dubai: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum schools in the UAE are leading in the Gulf region, with all the top performing schools reporting a 100 per cent result.
A total of 8,000 students from 31 schools appeared for the Grade 12 CBSE exam in the UAE. The results were announced on Saturday.
Once again, girls have overtaken the boys and come on top in science, humanities and commerce streams. The top five students in all streams come from Indian High School, Dubai, Delhi Private School, Dubai, Our Own English High School, Dubai and Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Indian High School, Abu Dhabi.
Indian High School (IHS) Dubai has taken the lead with Pankti Rajesh Shah coming on top in the science stream in the UAE. Securing 490/500, she has scored 98 per cent.
In the humanities stream, Ameera Zaheer from IHS scored a 97.2 per cent, emerging a clear winner. The top student in the commerce stream is Rutvi Bhavin Mithani, from Our Own English High School Sharjah, with 96.6 per cent and Kirtna Rajeev of Our Own English High School, Sharjah came second with 96.4 per cent. .
The IHS had 514 students appearing for the examination which in itself was a record of having the highest number of candidates appearing from a single school. The school achieved a 100 per cent result with nearly 40 per cent of students achieving 90 per cent and above. Of these, 9.3 per cent students have achieved an aggregate of more than 95 per cent.
Ashok Kumar, CEO of IHS and overall convenor for the CBSE examinations in UAE, told Gulf News: “We are proud and overwhelmed with the fantastic performance of our students.” He attributed the success to hard work, focus and sincerity of both the students and teachers who made this achievable.
