Three people were killed and four were injured in five accidents between Thursday and Sunday, officials said.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said an Iraqi man was killed when a truck and a car collided on Dubai-Al Ain road on Sunday. The accident took place at around 12.10am.

Also on Sunday, a truck and a light-vehicle overturned on Emirates Road. “The accident resulted in one serious injury and one minor injury. The accident took place around 4am on Emirates Road Abu Dhabi bound, near Al Khawaneej exit.

On Saturday around 4.30am, an Emirati man died after his sports car crashed into a cement barrier near Novotel Hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road.

Al Mazroui said sudden swerving was the cause of the accident.

Similarly, an Emirati man veered off his path and crashed into the metal barrier and a lamppost on Hatta road near Al Nazwa area at 4.40am on Friday. “The man was driving 4x4 and the man died on the spot following the crash,” he said.

Also on Friday, a man who was standing behind his stalled vehicle on Al Khail Road, was hit by another vehicle just after midnight.

“The man was parked in the triangle next to an exit, and the driver who hit him was overtaking incorrectly and did not see him or his car there,” Col Al Mzroui said.

Also, an Indian man was severely injured when he was run-over on Thursday at around 11pm. He was hit by a car driven by a British man on the bridge leading to Al Khail road.
