The recent initiative to revamp Al Bastakiya on Dubai Creek is a step that will assist in preserving and promoting this historic location. The step taken is welcome as it will complement other cultural activities scheduled for the area.
According to the new scheme, the bustling area aims to encourage artists in all fields to carry out their activities there.
"The project is in line with the vision of the Khor Dubai cultural project, recently launched by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority which is set to revive the national cultural heritage of Dubai, as well as establish the UAE as a centre for global dialogue and cultural platforms," said Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Event Management Corporation.
Perhaps what is most promising about such projects is the emphasis on the preservation of the old and altering the new to safeguard it.
