If the allegations of 'warfare' between the drivers of old and new taxis in Abu Dhabi are remotely true, then it is a serious matter that should be addressed by the appropriate authorities.

A new government-backed taxi company was established to ensure a higher standard of communication, etiquette and geographical knowledge was achieved.

Accordingly, new drivers were acquired for the new taxis, as many of the 'old' drivers failed to achieve the required standards. Having lost their livelihoods, some of these drivers apparently decided to take revenge on the newer drivers by intimidating them on the roads.

Such actions are perhaps evidence of the unworthiness of the drivers, and likely proof of the reason for their loss of work. The new drivers fear losing their jobs if they make an official complaint, but intimidation of drivers is dangerous and must be stopped by police as it endangers life.
