For all the conveniences of modern cities no one disputes that travelling from home to work can be a tiresome experience.
Traffic jams and slow-moving vehicles are often the first obstacles to be dealt with before arriving at the destination.
An efficient public transport system can help alleviate problems but cities are by definition crowded places and delays can never be fully ruled out. But there is no doubt that letting the train take the strain or cutting out the fuss with a bus can lead to a more relaxed commuting experience which will have benefits for society as a whole.
People's productivity is bound to be reduced if they are stuck in a jam before starting their work, not to mention the effects on health. With ever-increasing fuel prices it also makes economic sense to use public transport and travel in a more relaxed atmosphere.
