It is not unusual for the UAE to carry out numerous charity initiatives that introduce positive changes to the lives of thousands of needy individuals. Given that the month of Ramadan is one about caring and sharing, such initiatives take on a special meaning as their set goals are derived from basic teachings and principles of Islam.

Hence, the charity initiative, Noor Dubai, by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, highlights the commitment of the country to assisting those in need, as much as a renewal of the principle of continuing to be active in humanitarian causes.

Announced by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Events Management Corporation, the Noor Dubai initiative aims at curing a total of 160 million people with visual impairments worldwide. Accordingly, medication and medical assistance will be offered to help restore their vision.

The importance of this initiative does not merely stem from the nature of the ailment it addresses, but also from the fact that its outreach is quite vast and hence its message goes beyond mere boundaries - geographical or otherwise.
