The secret is out, so the CIA's covert mission in Lebanon is no longer covert. We all know about it and shall be looking long and hard at what they will be doing.
The Bush mission, which apparently has been accepted by the Central Intelligence Agency, is to counter the Hezbollah in Lebanon and support the incumbent prime minister, Fouad Siniora.
The US administration believes the perceived threats are inspired by Shiites who are supported by the governments of both Iran and Syria. And if the US believes that, there are very few who would, or could, gainsay that.
What is frightening for the region is the manner upon which the present US administration takes it upon itself to decide who or what is acceptable to the people of the Middle East.
With complete disregard for the sentiments of the majority, or the feelings of the citizens of the region, the US goes charging in with all its military might, threatening those people or nations it thinks are a threat "democracy" in general, and the US in particular.
The continual extraterritoriality by the US is unacceptable as all it tries to achieve is American-style democracy. And not every nation wants that.
