The most recent bomb attack in Lebanon should be seen as the rationale to push for an amicable solution to the country's political deadlock. The various parties involved have no option but to commit to bringing about an end to the political instability, which has unnecessarily dragged on endlessly.
The bombing that targeted and killed Captain Wissam Eid highlights a very serious issue. Eid was an intelligence officer who, ironically, was overseeing the investigations of the bombings that have struck Lebanon since 2005. For an official with the security forces to be targeted says a lot about the extent to which the situation has deteriorated. "This is a message to the Internal Security Forces (ISF), following the message sent to the army in December when General Francois Al Haj was killed in a car bomb," said ISF chief Ashraf Rifi.
The deepening rift between the various opposing parties has to come to a halt as the current political impasse affects the entire nation and its population at large.
The make-up of a nation such as Lebanon can not afford an extended period of indecisiveness and it is the responsibility of all sides to put an end to it.
