Resorting to violence is by all means unacceptable and the recent violence seen in Bahrain is a cowardly act that could only be received with the strongest condemnation. The repercussions are undoubtedly dangerous if they are not contained.
A group of people attacked a police car with petrol bombs, killing a policeman and injuring two others. Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa said that the attack was "a dangerous and unjustified escalation" and pledged a zero-tolerance policy against "criminal acts and violations of the law".
There is no question as to how this heinous crime be dealt with as the precedent should not turn into a platform for advancing certain agendas.
But most important of all is maintaining the track record that Bahrain has achieved so far in terms of institutionalising the democratic process.
The country stands as an example for other countries in the region to follow as it has started paving the way for a democratic progression that is inclusive of various factions and groups. And it is because of being inclusive and respectful of all opinions that the Bahraini experiment is built on solid basis, which should not be thwarted at any cost.
