Harbhajan Singh's ban from the Indian Premier League notwithstanding, his famous slap to compatriot S. Sreesanth was an action that was bound to happen. The irony is not lost on the fact that it involved both these controversial cricketers. It was also a slap in the face of Indian cricket.
Indian cricketers don't handle aggression very well - particularly these two protagonists. Time and again they have mortified the country and the team by their unwarranted actions. This incident should give the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) a chance to get their house in order.
Maturity, both of character and action, is the hallmark of a professional sportsman. And unlimited immunity should not be an added privilege over incredible wealth and fame. Harbhajan has had his place in the sun for too long. It is time that he was put in the shade.
