If Barack Obama, or anyone, thought release of Hillary Rodham Clinton's White House diaries would disclose sleaze, then they will be disappointed. It has taken over two years, and a court case, to get the documents released under the Freedom of Information Act, only to discover that about a third of the 11,000 pages have been "blacked out" for security purposes. This has left such riveting entries as "lunch with Bill" and so on.

Hillary's claims to involvement in securing Northern Ireland peace, the Nafta accords and such like cannot be proven or disproven. Dates coinciding with disclosures over her husband's affair with a White House member of staff are blandly shown as "No Public Schedule" leading gossipers free to speculate on what went on behind closed doors.

The question now arises: is it mere coincidence these diaries, revealing or otherwise, were released while Hillary is campaigning for Democratic nomination for president?
