Statistics in the US have shown that despite a nominal increase in the number of drivers using seatbelts the greatest percentage of youth involved in traffic accidents at night do not use their safety belt.

Perhaps it's the assumption that non-usage is less easily detected by the police that motivates such foolishness; or maybe it is the belief that being unstrapped it not only breaks the law with impunity (often) but also allows greater "freedom" for the driver.

Whichever it is, or possibly some other equally idiotic reasoning, it cannot be argued with science and fact for it is now recognised that wearing a seatbelt in a moving vehicle will ensure there is less likelihood of receiving serious injury or death.

It is something all drivers and passengers should recognise and immediately wear a seatbelt on entering a vehicle. It is no good regretting not doing so after the accident.
