Tehran: Irish singer Chris de Burgh arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to examine the possibility of holding a series of concerts for Iranians, who are among de Burgh's most loyal fans.

The 59-year old siad that being able to do so would be a dream come true.

"I can't tell you what a great pleasure it is to be here. This has been my dream since I was a little boy," the singer said at a conference.

Despite restricions on the performing arts in the Islamic republic, De Burgh, who will be the first Western pop star to perform in the Islamic republic since the 1979 revolution,
said he wanted to "make a difference" by performing for his Iranian fans.

De Burgh's appeal among Iranians goes back to just after the revolution in 1980 when a Tehran music store named Alighapoo put his hit "Sailor" on a compilation tape, reminisced Parham, a 44-year-old Iranian music enthusiast.
