Baghdad: Iraqi President Jalal Al Talabani arrived on a surprise visit to Najaf on Saturday for a meeting with top Shiite cleric Ali Al Sistani, according to media reports.
Talabani planned to discuss security and political developments with Al Sistani, the Voices of Iraq news agency reported.
Talabani was greeted by the governor of Najaf upon his arrival.
