Amman: Jordanian inflation accelerated to 15.4 percent in April as food, housing, clothing and services costs increased following the government's lifting of subsidies.
The inflation rate increased from an annual 14.1 percent in March, the Amman-based government Department of Statistics said.
Consumer prices increased 1 percent in the month.
Food prices jumped 19 percent, clothing prices rose 9 percent, housing increased 15 percent and other goods and services rose 12 percent, the department said.
Jordan, which imports all of its oil, lifted fuel subsidies in February causing the price of kerosene and diesel to rise 76 percent in February and another 8 percent in March.
