Occupied Jerusalem: At least three border crossings between Israel and Gaza were re-opened on Sunday, after Palestinians halted cross-border attacks that threatened an Egypt-brokered peace deal, officials said.
The Sufa commercials crossing, the Nahal OZ fuel transfer deport and the Erez border terminal for travellers began functioning at 8am, with few restrictions still in force, Israel said.
Another commercial crossing Karni, would soon be re-opened, a liaison official with Israel's Defence Ministry said, but this could not be confirmed.
On Friday, Israel allowed fuel to be transferred to Gaza’s only power station at Nahal Oz.
The truce, which came into effect on June 19, was strained following an Islamic Jihad rocket attack on Tuesday, allegedly in retaliation for the killing of one of its West Bank leaders.
Hamas called last week for smaller Palestinian factions to abide by the ceasefire and said it would take "necessary measures" against violators.
Israel has launched attacks into the Gaza Strip at least eight times since the truce began, UN sources say, while the Israeli army say Palestinians fired rockets and mortar bombs into Israel at least thrice.
