Sana'a, Yemen: Hamas leader Khaled Mesha'al on Sunday called for the resumption of Yemeni-brokered efforts to reconcile rival Palestinian groups.
"We support talks to resume the Palestinian dialogue … initiative with the aim of restoring the Palestinian situation in Gaza and the West Bank to what it was before,” Mesha'al said.
Yemen said a meeting could be held in Qatar. There was no immediate comment from Qatar.
Tensions between Hamas and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction have been high since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in 2007.
Several attempts by Arab leaders have failed to heal the rift between Abbas and Hamas.
"We support reconciliation," Mesha'al said after meeting Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The Yemeni initiative also called for the creation of a fresh unity government and the reform of security forces.
