Mogadishu: A BBC journalist in Somalia has been shot dead by gunmen, a report on the BBC website said on Sunday.

Nasteh Dahir, one of BBC’s Somalia correspondents, was gunned down outside his home in the city of Kismayo.

The National Union of Somali Journalists said Dahir’s death was a “targeted assassination”, adding that the 26-year-old received death threats, the BBC said.

Nine other journalists have been killed in Somalia since February 2007.
