Dubai: Esmail Al Gergawi, board chairman of UAE Basketball Association (BA), denied that they were showing any bias towards a particular club.
Al Gergawi was speaking at a press conference yesterday commenting on the allegation of Al Nasr officials after the BA decided to prematurely lift the one- year ban on the Al Ahli players: Zayed Khuwaidim, Saeed Atiq and Al Wasl's Ayoub Abbas.
"The players apologised for what they did and promise not to repeat it. We found the period of suspension which they served was enough."
No reprieve
Al Nasr had protested against lifting the ban on the players, claiming that there was an instance of an Al Nasr player who was suspended and the BA refused to lift the ban on him before two years.
Al Gergawi said that all clubs are equal before the BA. "As a parent body, we are not looking for the interest of one or two clubs, but for the benefit of all clubs. Al Nasr is one of the big names in UAE basketball and we were very happy when they won the Vice President's Cup recently," Al Gergawi said.
