Abu Dhabi: UAE bowlers Shaker Ali and Naif Ogab dominated the Saudi Arabian International Bowling Championship, taking the top two places in style.

Shaker, holder of the Asian title, came first and picked up the $30,000 (Dh110,000) prize while Ogab, the Arab champion and gold medallist at the Asian Indoor Games, earned $18,000 (Dh67,000).

Prince Sultan Bin Fahal Al Saud, the President of the Saudi Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, presented the trophies and prizes.

Rafael Penang was third, Egyptian Mahmoud Madhloom fourth and Saudi Arabian Tilal Twerib fifth.

Tough competition

"It was a tough competition with the best bowlers from 16 countries, but I am pleased I did well and emerged champion." Shaker told Gulf News yesterday.

"I am also happy that my colleague in the UAE national team finished second showing great form."
