Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, the President of the Asian Chess Federation and the Al Ain Chess and Culture Club (ACCC), inaugurated a special chess club at the Salahuddin school in Al Ain within the club's quest to spread the game in the city and the country.
The ACCC organised a special campaign last month to teach 5,000 children, teachers and mothers the game of chess and the campaign has achieved success.
"We believe chess broaden the mental capacities of the children and thus enable them to do better in their studies at school. We are proud with the success of our campaign and teaching the teachers and mothers will surely lead to the spread of the game because they will encourage their students, sons and daughters to practise the game," Shaikh Sultan said at the opening.
Shaikh Sultan honoured the mothers and teachers who passed the learning course and invited all parents to learn the game.
