Dubai: The all-nationals' cricket team of the UAE and Air India will clash in the opener of a Twenty20 tournament, to be played under floodlights at the Zabeel Park, today.
The event is being organised by the Dubai Cricket Council.
This is the second tournament to be hosted by the Council this year after the highly successful inter-college tournament which finished last month.
"Our vice-chairman Abdul Razzak Kazim and Farrukh Seddiqi discussed with the Zabeel Park authorities and we are thankful to them for allowing us to conduct our second tournament in succession.
"Hopefully, we will try and conduct some more events there," said Hayat Yar Khan Khan, secretary of the council.
"Eight teams have been drawn in two groups of four each and they will play each other. The top two teams will qualify for the semifinals.
"This tournament has been restricted to eight teams to finish the tournament in 19 days," said Mohammad Lokhandwala, executive committee member of the council.
Matches will start from 7.30pm.
Following are the groupings:
- Group A: Nucaf Tellicherry, Eslam group, Yogi Group and Active IT.
- Group B: Transgulf, Air India, Eurocon and Nationals cricket team.
