Sharjah:  The Al Dhaid cricket village grounds have helped Sharjah Cricket Council to stage their tournaments at a brisk pace and also plan out to host new tournaments this year.

"We are on schedule and have entered the last stages of many of our tournaments and we are also planning to stage a few new events," remarked Mazhar Khan, the secretary of the council.

The council is set to stage the 17th edition of the Bukhatir league final on March 7 between CSS Group and Eurocon Alubond.

The Inter-Bank final between Emirates Islamic Bank and Commercial Bank International will be held on March 10 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The Al Dhaid cricket tournament was held last week with Consolidated Shipping Services emerging as the champions beating Khatri Club by six wickets.

CSS restricted Khatri CC to 174 for nine in the allotted 25 overs and then reached the target in 18.4 overs. Khatri got off to a good start with Ayoub Inavat top scoring with a quick 60 off just 35 balls which contained three fours and six sixes.

Khatri lost wickets at regular intervals to Kashif and Naeemullah who both took three wickets each for 16 runs. Bakhtiyar hit 51 off just 25 balls with nine fours and one six while Hareesh hit a fine 79 off 37 balls with 13 fours and two sixes.
