Talking about the impact of the victory, Rajput said: "It is a great feeling and we all feel as if we had won the World Cup."
Challenges
"Frankly, we all consider this victory as good as winning the World Cup because we have beaten Australia in their own backyard. I think it is one of the greatest moments of India cricket and I am happy to be a part of it."
Rajput had handled the challenges of the tour on his own till the new coach Gary Kirsten took charge.
"It was a tough tour especially due to the off the field incidents.
"A lot of controversies happened during this tour and it was important that we remained focused on the game. Now we all feel very nice having emerged victorious out of those tough situations. The victory has been very rewarding."
When asked about the basic factor that led India to victory, Rajput said: "The most important thing that we did was to believe in ourselves that we have the strength to win. We proved that we can beat the winner as well as runner up of the World Cup."
Rajput praised the youngsters who played a big role in the victory.
"All the youngsters like Ishant, Rohit, Kumar and Chawla contributed immensely towards the victory. Ishant turned out to be the find of the series and with Rohit they are the future cricketers of the country."
