Sharjah: Yogi Group cricket team stunned Fly Emirates, who are the strongest team in the UAE's domestic cricket, in the 34th edition of the Bukhatir League at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Yogi Group after piling up 231 for 7 in 50 overs restricted the star studded Fly Emirates batting to 179.

"We did it because we have recruited some good Ranji Trophy players from India. They have strengthened our team," remarked Shiva Pagrani, the captain of the Yogi Group to Gulf News.

Swapnil Patil, a former Mumbai Ranji trophy players was the star performer. He cracked 63 off 97 balls studded with five fours, while Bilal Murtaza, one of the most prolific scorers in domestic cricket, hit 60 off 83 balls with two fours and two sixes.

Another Mumbai and Goa Ranji Trophy player Ambey Parwatkar sparkled with the bat and also ball. He hit 32 and took two wickets to provide excellent support to his skipper Pagrani, who bagged three wickets.

Fly Emirates failed to reach the target despite knocks from former UAE captain Arshad Ali (37)and Amjad Javed (35). In 42.1 overs they were bowled out with Dhanjeet too taking three wickets.
