Dubai: Indian cricket team assistant coach and National Cricket Academy director Lalchand Rajput will seek to inspire budding cricketers in the UAE by staging a clinic at the Sharjah Stadium on March 20.
Rajput had played a pivotal role in inspiring India's young cricketers to victory in the Twenty20 World Cup and also in the recent series against Pakistan and Australia.
"We wanted an inspiring coach to motivate the young cricketers here and so we invited Rajput. He will conduct a clinic for youngsters and announce our inter-school cricket tournament and inaugurate our training centre," said Sudhakar Shetty of Maxtalent, a sports promotion organisation.
Maxtalent will be staging the second edition of their inter-school tournament for boys and girls under-13 and under-17. Thirty-five schools will take part in this league-cum-knock-out tournament. They had also staged an inter-collegiate tournament recently.
"Our aim is to spot young talent. To further nurture their skills, we will open a training centre in Sharjah. The clinic will offer talented players a scope to attend NCA," said Shetty.
