Sharjah:  A strong Netherlands cricket team will take on UAE at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

"The Netherlands team is scheduled to arrive on March 31 and prepare for the four-day Intercontinental Cup match scheduled to begin from April 3," remarked Mazhar Khan, the administrator of the Emirates Cricket Board.

Strong team

The Netherlands team will be flying in from Windhoek after their four-day match against Namibia. This team had played in the 2007 World Cup and is aiming to qualify again for the 2011 World Cup.

The team has become stronger with the inclusion of Ryan ten Doeschate, who had skipped a few matches in 2007 due to his commitment with the Essex County team. Doeschate is already in UAE as part of the Essex team playing in the Arch Trophy. Daan van Bunge, who had announced that he will not be available for international cricket after he was hit for six sixes by Herschelle Gibbs in the 2007 World Cup, has returned to the team.

Thirty-five-year-old Jeroen Smits, who is the most experienced player of the team, is the captain and wicketkeeper.
